Retention Rate Hits New High

Posted on

Dear Horned Frogs,

Our 12th day reporting numbers are in and TCU’s retention rate for first-year students reached a new high of 94.3%. This is huge!

There are many indicators of a university’s success. The first-year retention rate reflects our first-year programs, culture of connection and classroom experience.

It tells us our admissions team is doing a fantastic job of identifying academically talented, diverse students ready to Lead On in college.

It reflects the hard work and care our faculty put into the classroom experience as both teachers and scholars.

It shows us that the innovative, fun, educational and culture-building programs developed by our dedicated Student Affairs team are positively impacting our students.

It indicates that our students are working hard to be successful in the classroom and are making meaningful connections in the TCU community.

It reaffirms what Horned Frogs know – TCU’s student experience is among the very best in the country.

At 94.3%, TCU is in the company of Princeton, Boston University, Wake Forest and the University of California, San Diego. (U.S. News & World Report’s retention data for national universities lists average retention rates for first-year students starting in fall 2018 through fall 2021.)

We want our students to thrive here and stay here. Kudos to all of the faculty, staff and administrators who pour their time and energy into our students and connection culture. In 2003, TCU’s retention rate stood at 83.5%.  It is no accident that this number has continued to steadily climb during Chancellor Boschini’s tenure, resulting in this new high.

It is inspiring to see what happens when visionary leaders, faculty and staff work together toward achieving their goals.

Lead On, TCU!
