Dear Horned Frogs,
Welcome to the spring semester at TCU! And to our new Horned Frogs, welcome home. It certainly doesn’t feel like spring, but soon enough, it will. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and warm.
As you think about the spring semester ahead and all that you wish to accomplish, I want to share a story that I hope will inspire you as it does me:
Over the winter break, I had the opportunity to travel with the men’s basketball team to Kansas for their matchup with the top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. What a game! The Horned Frogs left it all on the court. Although it didn’t end the way we wanted, the magic was in what I witnessed on the way back to Fort Worth.
Instead of being down about the outcome, the team displayed the opposite. They quickly began focusing on the next challenge by watching the game film to see how they could improve and spent the travel time home lifting each other up. I wasn’t a bit surprised to see them win their next two home games against other top-ranked teams. In both wins, they were focused, having fun and supporting each other.
Sure, every team, department, project group or organization will face challenges and setbacks. The power is in how we respond. This is what creates true champions.
Horned Frogs, thank you for all you do to build our campus culture. Whether you are a dedicated student-athlete, student, leader, coach, faculty member or staff, each of us has a role to play as we face challenges and opportunities that come our way.
And if you are new to campus, you don’t want to miss home basketball games in Schollmaier. Both the men’s and women’s teams are setting new records, and being a part of the fun is exhilarating.
All TCU students are admitted free to regular season basketball games. Just show your TCU Student ID for admittance.
Let’s have a great semester, and Go Frogs!
